History

Mangapet has almost 600 hundred years history. this is mandal head uator for 30 villages, having very less population compare to many villages in this mandal.

Geography

Mangapet is located at 18°51′N 81°15′E / 17.0°N 80.58°E / 18.1; 80.58.[3] It has an average elevation of 502 metres (1510 feet).

Climate

Mangapet has a hot summers from late February to early June, the monsoon season from late June to early October and a pleasant winter from late October to early February.[21] In the evenings and mornings the climate is generally cooler because heavy forest. With little humidity and average temperatures in the 20–23 °C (63–73 °F) range, this is the best time to visit Mangapet. Mangapet is river bid area, this river bid area is almost 7 to 8 km. Managapet is almost 120 km for away from warangal (District headquarters) and 260 km away from Hyderabad.

Income source

mangapet's economy is predominantly agricultural.This is a rice-growing region and most farmers grow rice for both subsistence and the commerce. Cotton has also been a major cash crop since the early 1990s; however the cotton sector has been troubled in recent years,

Culture and cuisine

Culture

Telugu is the language spoken by the majority in Mangapet. Both traditional attire like Saree and Dhoti and modern dress styles are worn.

Festivals

Major Hindu festivals such as Bathukamma festival, Dassera, Deepavali, Sankranti are celebrated here. Bathukamma festival is very famous here and celebrated by the women worshipping the goddess for nine days with various flowers. In addition, the district hosts the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara or congregation. Every two years (bi-annually), approximately 10-15 million people converge for over three days around the small village of Medaram and its adjacent stream/rivulet, Jampanna Vagu, 50 km from Mangapet village. This fair is said to be the largest repeating aggregation of tribal communities in the whole world and commemorates the valiant fight put up by a mother-daughter combination (Samakka and Sarakka) with the reigning Kakatiya king over an unjust law. Also, this is second biggest congregation in Asian continent after Kumbha Mela in India.[5] Bonalu and Bathukamma festivals, symbolic of the Telangana region are also celebrated here (Bathukamma is celebrated particularly by women) with gusto. This mixed cutler because many people are migrated to here from many places from andhra pradesh and india.

Tourist places

Shiva temple in mangapet this temple has almost 400 years history, great ness of this temple is god faces to west side.

Laxmi narasimha swamy temple in mallur (7 km away from mangapet) this located in deep forest hill area. Here white liquid comes from gods novel, this will act as a medicine for the women, who are unable to give birth.Chinthamani this is one lake here, here water is pure natural, this water contain vana mullikallu (In telugu).


Govadhavari river this river bid also one of the great tourist place.
