Ángel Manuel Cuéllar Llanos, Cuéllar (born 13 September 1972 in Villafranca de los Barros, Extremadura), is a former Spanish footballer, who played mostly for Real Betis, as a forward with dribble and netting ability.

Club career

Cuéllar debuted for Real Betis Balompié's main squad aged 18, on November 4, 1990, in a 0-1 loss at CD Logroñes, with the Andalusia side finishing the season last. He became an undisputed starter while in "Segunda División", and netted 14 league in 1994-95, as Betis shot straight from the second level into a final third place (on September 25, 1994, he bagged a hat-trick in a 5-0 home success over Sporting de Gijón). During the season, he appeared in two friendly matches with Spain.

In June 1995, Cuéllar signed a five-year deal with league powerhouse FC Barcelona. Returning to Betis in 1997 for 300 million "pesetas", he would be sacked by club president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera after Betis was relegated in 1999-2000, under the allegations of "alarmingly low working performances". After two stints (with relegation) in the second level, Cuéllar moved to Levante UD, also in the category, and was an important element in the Valencia outfit's top flight promotion, but would only appear 7 times during 2004-05.

Subsequently, Cuéllar played three seasons in "Tercera División": two with CD Lugo and his final with CF Narón Balompé.
