Previously he had played in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes. He was an All-American at Virginia. Prior to Virginia, Dixon attended Lucy C. Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, North Carolina where he was a star football and basketball player. Dixon is now the head football coach at Galax High School in Galax, Virginia
