Pillar Institute

The Pillar Institute is a Christian school affiliated with the KLD Youth Foundation. It opened on September 18, 2006.

History

Kevin L. Deaton, pitcher for the Oakland Aces, founded the KLD Youth Foundation and the Pillar Institute in 2003. His vision was to create a school that taught the fundamentals of education and life skills.

After months of searching for a location, they found an abandoned Publix that had been closed for nine years. The building was gutted and divided into classrooms.

Facilities

The building now features seven classrooms, three offices, a conference room and a computer lab.

Educational philosophy

The Pillar Institute incorporates non-traditional teaching methods into its curriculum, with a focus on real-world experience.

Educational aim

Pillar Institute is a Christian education private school which attempts to empower and equip young people to reach their potential in an environment that develops the whole person for college and for life.
