Bedirhan Bey

Bedirhan Bey

Bedirhan Bey was the last emir and mutesellim of Cizre Bohtan Emirate. Also know as Badr Khan Beg.

He began to lose his power due to the centralist policies of the Ottoman Empire, which culminated in the Tanzimat Edict of 1839 and its application the following year.

When the Ottomans decided to make changes in the boundaries of Diyarbakır province in 1842 and 1843 within the application of the Tanzimat Edict, Bedirhan Bey did not accept the changes and the state soon removed him from Cizre and deported him to Crete.
