international affairs , Professor Kanti Bajpai, is the current Headmaster of The Doon School,Dehra Dun ,India .Bajpai graduated from Doon in
1972 ; his father, a formerambassador to Canada had also been educated at Doon. An uncle also became adiplomat .Bajpai was awarded a
Bachelor of Arts inEconomics and an Master of Arts in Political Science from theUniversity of British Columbia . After graduating he returned to Doon and taught there in1981 . In1982 he returned to the United States to do a PhD in Political Science from the University of Illinois.He returned to India in
1989 taught atMaharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda for three years, after which he went back to the United States to teach. In1993 he returned again to India to the Institute of Contemporary Studies of theRajiv Gandhi Foundation.In
1994 he joinedJawaharlal Nehru University to teachdisarmament ,security andarms control , where he became one of JNU's most respected and beloved ex-professors. He brought a world class standard ofpedagogy to the school and under his tutelage, the school produced some fine students.Bajpai is one of India's most prolific and influential international relations scholars. The
1998 nuclear bomb tests cast the spotlight on Bajpai who was firmly opposed to the tests and spoke and wrote about it with clarity and reason that was in short supply during that time.Mr. Bajpai has edited and written a number of influential and prolific articles and books since his JNU days, including Roots of Terrorism amongst many others.
