James Constable (born October 4, 1984 in Malmesbury, England) is an English professional footballer who currently plays for Oxford United as a striker on loan from Shrewsbury Town.

Constable began his career at Chippenham Town, but signed for Walsall in November 2005. After two months on loan at Kidderminster, he moved to Harriers on a permanent deal on January 312007. In the 2007 FA Trophy final Constable scored the first and second ever goals for an English club team at the new Wembley Stadium, although his efforts were in vain as Kidderminster lost 3-2 to Stevenage Borough.

Constable transferred to League Two club Shrewsbury Town on January 312008, transfer deadline day, along with his Harriers team-mate Scott Bevan. A week later, Constable scored his first goal for Shrewsbury, a late equaliser against Brentford. He made his full debut on February 12 2008, scoring twice as his team came back from 3–0 down to draw 3–3 at home to MK Dons.

On July 8 2008 it was announced Constable would be returning to the Blue Square Premier on a season long loan, this time to play for Oxford United.
