Overview

With a student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1, St. Benedict students receive a unique and personalized education that allows them to learn and prosper. St. Benedict's experienced teaching staff is dedicated and highly-qualified, providing students an enriching education.

St. Benedict High School also benefits from a partnership with DePaul University School of Education. A team of educators focused on implementing and assessing cutting-edge teaching methods in the classroom, works closely with St. Benedict faculty to introduce new teaching practices to maximize student achievement. In addition, St. Benedict staff has access to the wealth of resources available to DePaul. It’s a partnership that continues to grow, and ultimately benefit St. Benedict students.

In addition, St. Benedict's offers a number of AP classes (English, History, Physics, Spanish, Calculus, to name a few) and students may also earn college credit for some courses through St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. All St. Benedict courses maintain a college preparatory level.

For more than fifty years, St. Benedict High School has existed as a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory institution of the Archdiocese of Chicago. St. Benedict's goal is to prepare students for continuous educational growth through strong scholastic programs inherently strengthened through rewarding service projects.

The administration, faculty, and students of St. Benedict proclaim the Gospel of Christ and strive to live as Christ would. We teach students to serve their families, their school, and the larger community, and are committed to developing the total person: mind, body and spirit.

Mission Statement

Since 1902, Catholic education has been a tradition in the ministry of St. Benedict Parish. The schools of St. Benedict prepare young people pre-school through high school for life long learning through academic excellence based on individual needs and talents, spiritual formation, personal growth and a commitment to multicultural community life and Christian stewardship.

Technology

In the 21st Century, a classroom is no longer just desks and chairs. How we learn is as important as what we learn, and technology plays a big part. St. Benedict High School integrates technology into its curriculum so students will have experience with some of the most advanced high-tech tools of the classroom.

St. Benedict has a campus-wide wireless network which gives students access to the information they need when they need it. And with an increasing number of computers added each year, the student-to-computer ratio is better than 2:1. Within the halls of St. Benedict is a professional-quality video production studio that allows students to create amazing presentations for not just technology classes. St. Benedict students even get paid for work with the technology department – an extraordinary resume builder before they graduate!

Performing Arts Academy

Jumpstart a career in the arts with an education through St. Benedict High School Performing Arts Academy! This exciting program is designed specifically for the advanced student who plans to either receive a full college scholarship or eventually become a professional in the entertainment industry. In addition to a full courseload of classes through St. Benedict High School, students of the Performing Arts Academy will take fifteen (15) additional hours of performing arts classes each week.

Be a part of a new community of students who wish to immerse themselves in creativity and collaboration through the performing arts.

In addition, St. Benedict High School puts on a school play in the fall, and a musical in the spring. Past performances have included Grease, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest and The Wizard of Oz. This year's performances are Bleacher Bums and The Wedding Singer.
