The 4th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The 4th Iowa Infantry was organized at Council Bluffs, Iowa and mustered into Federal forces on August 8, 1861.

The regiment was mustered out on July 24, 1865.

Total strength and casualties

The regiment suffered 6 officers and 109 enlistedmen who were killed in action or who died of their wounds and 2 officers and 285 enlistedmen who died of disease, for a total of 402 fatalities.
