- Hochelaga (provincial electoral district)
-
Hochelaga was a provincial electoral district in the province of Quebec, Canada. Formed in 1867 and located in the Montreal region, it existed until 1912, when it was part of Montreal-Hochelaga until 1923. The name Hochelaga was reused when the riding of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve was formed in 1989.
It was named after the former aboriginal village of Hochelaga (where today is located Montreal) which existed when France, led by explorer Jacques Cartier discovered territories including the current Island of Montreal and what became New France until 1760.
