"Nature Trail to Hell" is an original song by parody artist "Weird Al" Yankovic. The song is about a fictional slasher film entitled "Nature Trail to Hell in 3-D". At the time of the song's release, the 3-D process had made a short comeback through horror films like "Friday the 13th Part 3" and "Jaws 3-D". Throughout the song Yankovic describes the plot and what happens in it ("there's a homicidal maniac who finds a Cub Scout troop, and he hacks up two or three in every scene"), facetiously refers to the violent film as "good clean family fun", and promises he won't "spoil the big surprise" of the ending.

tyle parody of...

Nature Trail to Hell is one of Yankovic's more complex songs. It contains elements of Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Elton John, and The Beatles.

Some fans have noted the similarities between portions of this song and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" - a cover version to the tune of "Thriller" allegedly exists.

The eerie beginning of the song is reminiscent of Elton John's song "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" which starts out nearly the same as "Nature Trail to Hell".

The song ends with multiple pianos playing a final chord, similar to The Beatles' "A Day in the Life"

Backmasking

Nature Trail to Hell includes a deliberately-hidden backwards message: if played backwards, the phrase "Satan eats Cheese Whiz" is clearly audible at 3:40. The title, coupled with the backtracked message, could possibly be a parody of Stairway to Heaven.
