Kent Dybvig is a professor of Computer Science at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. His research focuses on programming languages, and he is known in the Lisp community as the author of the popular Chez Scheme compiler. Together with Daniel P. Friedman, he has long advocated the use of the minimalist Scheme language in teaching computer science.

For his contributions to both the practical and theoretical aspects of computing and information technology, in particular his design and development of Chez Scheme, Kent Dybvig has been honored by ACM in 2006 as one of its Distinguished Engineers.
