"Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" is the second single by Zambian-born Zimbabwean singer Rozalla. It was her first and biggest hit to date.

Chart performances

"Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" first charted in the United Kingdom in 1991, peaking at #6. The success soon crossed over to the rest of Europe, reaching the Top 10 in numerous countries.

The song wasn't released in the USA until 1992. It performed extremely well on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, climbing to number one. On the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the track was a modest success, reaching #37.

Music video

Various music videos exist for "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)". Rozalla's original label Pulse 8 promoted the song with a semi-live performance video. In the US, Epic had Rozalla record a different video. The singer also shot a video for her 1996 remix in Africa, and another for the 2002 version with German hard house group Aquagen.

Remixes

"Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" has been remixed various times. In 1996, a remix reached #30 on the UK Singles chart. In 2000, she re-recorded with Richard 'Humpty' Vission and had a minor US dance hit. In 2002 came the Aquagen remix of the song, which reached #22 in Germany, followed by a Delerium & Faze remix in 2005. The following year came the Kortezman remix of the song.

Covers

A choral version of "Everybody's Free" by Quindon Tarver was featured in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet". Tarver's rendition was later used by Luhrmann for his single "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)". In April 2007, French DJ and producer Bob Sinclar released a single called "Sound of Freedom", which features samples from "Everybody's Free". The Aquagen version was used at the beginning of an episode of The Venture Bros., Powerless in the Face of Death. The licensing of the song accounted for 1/8th the budget for the episode. German trance group Angel_One also did a cover of the song.
