The Russell Glacier is a medium-sized glacier on the north flank of Mount Rainier, Washington. It covers convert|1.3|sqmi|km2|1 and contains 3.1 billion ft³ (88 million m³) of ice. Starting from its highest point at Convert|9400|ft|m|-2, the Russell Glacier flows northeast towards the Carbon Glacier and contributes ice to the larger glacier before becoming distinct below Convert|7000|ft|m|-2.Cite web|title=USGS Mowich Lake (WA) Topo Map|work=USGS Quad maps|url=http://www.topoquest.com/map.php?lat=46.89790&lon=-121.78898&datum=nad27&zoom=8|publisher=TopoQuest.com|accessdate=2008-05-17] With most of the ice located from Convert|8000|ft|m|-2 to Convert|9000|ft|m|-2, the glacier only descends to Convert|6800|ft|m|-2, unlike the much lower extent of the Carbon Glacier. Echo Rock and Convert|8364|ft|m|0|abbr=on|abbr=on|abbr=on|abbr=on|abbr=on|abbr=on Observation Rock, two minor sub-peaks of Rainier, lie northwest of this glacier. Meltwater from the glacier eventually reaches the Carbon River.
