- William Hull (artist)
William Hull (1820-1880), a well-known
watercolour painter, exhibited at theRoyal Academy inLondon .Born in
Grafham inHuntingdonshire ,England , he painted many excellent watercolours. After suffering a stroke in his thirties, William moved to theLake District in North West England and many of his paintings and drawings depict this area.The
Dictionary of Victorian Painters writes:HULL, William 1820-1880Painted landscapes and still-life. Exhib. Eight works, views in North Wales and the Lake District, at the RA 1858-77, and three works, all watercolours, at SS 1867-74. Born in Graffham, Huntingdonshire. Dies in Rydal. Best known for his fruit and flower pieces in the style of William Henry Hunt (q.v.).
