Montrose Regional Airport (IATA: MTJICAO: KMTJ) is a non-towered public airport located at the northwest edge of Montrose (38°30′31″N 107°53′37″W / 38.50861°N 107.89361°W / 38.50861; -107.89361) in the zip code of 81401 and in the southwest corner of the U.S. state of Colorado. The airport has two runways and situated at 5,759 feet (1,755 m) in elevation.

Montrose Regional Airport was dedicated June 25, 1988, with Chuck Yeager cutting the ribbon during the ceremony.

The airport is highly seasonal, in that many flights operate from MTJ only during the winter. As the nearest major airport to the ski areas around Telluride, Montrose sees heavy seasonal service.

2010-2011 Passenger Terminal Project

Montrose Regional Airport is currently remodeling and expanding the passenger terminal adding 10,935 sq. ft. of additional space by lengthening the terminal building 80 feet to the south. The expansion will add more space for passenger check in, larger departure lounge, and addition space at the security checkpoint.
