Errol Barnett (born April 3, 1983) is a correspondent for CNN International based at the CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

Background

Errol Barnett was born in Milton Keynes, England to Pamela and Michael Christie. He has one older brother; Danny Christie. His mother later married Gary Barnett, a US Air Force Sergeant who was stationed in England and would later serve in the Gulf War. The family lived in Crownhill before moving to Avondale, Arizona west of Phoenix in 1993. Channel One

Errol was with U.S. secondary school-aired news program Channel One News for five seasons and was the youngest anchor/reporter. Errol reported from President George W. Bush's "axis of evil" State of the Union Address and second Inauguration from Washington DC, flew through a Hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico with Hurricane Hunters and he produced a two-part feature series on heroin use in American suburbs. Errol also reported from the United Nations when US Secretary of State Colin Powell presented flawed intelligence regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction and from the Capitol during passage of the Homeland Security Act. UCLA

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) accepted Errol to its College of Letters and Sciences. Errol studied political science with a focus on international relations full-time and was an active member of the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi at UCLA. The group arranges professional panels and events for UCLA students to attend as well as networking opportunities with business people in various fields. Errol was profiled in UCLA's newspaper "The Daily Bruin" in April, 2007 and graduated in June 2008.

ReelzChannel

Errol was hired by movie-centric cable network ReelzChannel while at UCLA as a correspondent and fill-in host for ReelzChannel's flagship show "Dailies" and "Dailies Weekend" which cover current events in the movie industry. Errol can also be seen on ReelzChannel's website, which streams ReelzChannel programming like Errol's interview with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale during promotion of their movie "." On Monday, July 7, 2008 Errol announced on "Dailies" he was leaving the network to join CNN International.

BJASC

Barnett was also a board member of the Black Journalist's Association of Southern California (BJASC). Bratton, LAUSD Superintendent David Brewer and News Anchor Michaela Pereira. They also provide scholarships to students interested in pursuing careers in journalism.
