Professional practice

Professional Practice is the term used by progressive universities to encompass both the Cooperative Education and Internship types of experiences. As practical education has become more diversified and varied, the types of traditional undergraduate employment experiences have expanded significantly. However, a Cooperative Education experience in college is distinctly different from an internship. The new terminology allows a single organization within a university to promote and administer both types of programs. Universities that have adopted this nomenclature include: the University of Cincinnati, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
