David Dyment is a Canadian author and academic based in Ottawa, Ontario.
His most recent publication is Doing the Continental: A New Canadian-American Relationship [1], published by Dundurn Press in 2010. The book was honoured by the Toronto Library Foundation at the 2011 Book Lover's Ball as one of under 60 celebrated recent Canadian books. [2] In May 2011, the book was listed on Quill and Quire's bestseller list for non-fiction politics. [3] A review [4] [5] by Conrad Black appeared in the May 2011 issue of the Literary Review of Canada. Dyment teaches political science at the University of Ottawa and at Carleton University where he is senior research associate in the Centre on North American Politics and Society. He has served on the staff of the Governor General of Canada and as a senior policy adviser in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
Dyment is a contributor to The Globe and Mail [6], the Toronto Star, the Vancouver Sun and other Canadian newspapers. He has been a commentator on CTV, CBC Television, CBC Radio, Télévision de Radio-Canada and the BBC.
He received his doctorate from the Université de Montréal.
