He was born in
Wells ,Somerset , on 12 February 1874. 4 July 1901 atSpringbok Laagte ,South Africa , Private Crandon rode back to help another private who was wounded and whose horse became disabled. Private Crandon gave up his horse to the wounded man so that he could reach shelter, and followed on foot, having to run 1,100 yards, all the time under fire.Further information
He later achieved the rank of
