93rd Regiment of Foot (laterThe Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's) ),British Army during theIndian Mutiny when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.On
16 November 1857 atLucknow ,India , Private Grant showed great personal gallantry at the Secundra Bagh in killing five of the enemy with one of their own swords when they were attempting to follow thecolonel as that officer was carrying a Colour which he had captured.Elected by the regiment. He died Australia
