- Frank Leslie Stillwell
Frank Leslie Stillwell OBE, (
27 June 1888 –8 February 1963 ) was anAustralian geologist, winner of theClarke Medal awarded by theRoyal Society of New South Wales in 1951.Stillwell was educated at
Melbourne University and joined theAustralasian Antarctic Expedition (1911–14) as geologist. He spent 17 months inAntarctica underDouglas Mawson . He was stationed at the Main Base atCommonwealth Bay .Stillwell then worked at
Broken Hill, New South Wales 1919–21, as assistant geologist under Dr. Ernest C. Andrews. He mapped theKalgoorlie, Western Australia goldfield 1927–28.Stillwell joined the
Royal Society of Victoria 1910 and served as president 1953–54.References
