History
The station was first established as Higashi Ōizumi Station on November 1, 1924, and renamed Ōizumi Gakuen Station on March 1, 1933.
It was used to represent Ohara Station in a pivotal scene in Akira Kurosawa's film, Stray Dog.
As of 2007, construction is underway at other stations along the line to lay new rail, thus affecting Ōizumi Gakuen Station as well. The date of completion of this work is as of yet undetermined.
