- Shakujii-kōen Station
nihongo|Shakujii-kōen Station|石神井公園駅|Shakujii-kōen-eki is a
train station located in the town of Shakujii, inTokyo 's Nerima-ku. It is served by the Ikebukuro Line ofSeibu Railway . Shakujii-kōen is the 10th station leaving from Ikebukuro Station (incl. Ikebukuro Station) on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.Layout
The station consists of two sets of
island platform s numbered from north to south with exits on the north and south sides. There are separate sets of ticket gates at the two entrances to the concrete station house, instead of facilities on a walk-through bridge over the platforms that is common in modern stations. This requires pedestrians who cross the station block to detour to the
level crossing s near the station. Due to heavy traffic of the trains that seriously intercepts road traffic, it is not uncommon for people to cross the tracks in dangerous manner; efforts to resolve the problem, i.e. conversion to elevated railway tracks, are being hastened.Platforms

Neighborhood
The roads around the station's south entrance are quite narrow and efforts have been made to encourage use of the north entrance, a larger, more open area where bus stops, parking, an
Isetan supermarket, and bicycle racks are located. However, the south entrance, closer to residential areas, traditional shopping streets, andShakujii Park ("Shakujii Kōen"), continues to see greater use, the area around it being quite congested around rush hour times. Plans to expand this station plaza area have been included in upcoming track-laying construction projects.History
The station was first established as Shakujii Station on April 15, 1915, and renamed Shakujii Kōen Station on March 1, 1933. Parts of the rails used as a roof structure of platforms date back to 1926.
