- The longest winning streak to start a season was achieved by D.C. United in 1997, who opened the campaign with 14 consecutive wins.
- The longest winning end to a season was achieved by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 1997, who closed the campaign with six straight wins.
- The longest unbeaten end to a season was achieved by the Columbus Crew in 2004, who closed the campaign 18 matches unbeaten (with eight wins and 10 ties).
- The longest road trip a team has played during the regular season was recorded by Chicago Fire in 2006. They opened the season with nine straight games on the road due to the completion of Toyota Park in the early part of the 2006 season, so the club elected to play its first nine games away, rather than find a temporary venue. As a result Chicago Fire also hold the record for the longest homestand a team has played during the regular season. They played nine straight home games.
- The highest number of points achieved by a team at home during a regular season was 40 (13-2-1), by Chicago Fire in 2000.
- The highest number of points achieved by a team on the road during a regular season was 37 (13-3), by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 1998.
- The 2002 regular season was dominated by teams from the Western Conference, all of them (except 5th-placed Kansas City Wizards) finished with more points than every other team in the Eastern Conference.
