Playing for the English Residents, Wood scored only 5 runs in the match and his side lost. cite web|url=http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/2/2478.html |title=American Born v English Residents in 1881 |accessdate=2007-05-07 |date=2003–2007 |publisher=CricketArchive ] He played in this match each year until 1884 when he first played against the Philadelphians with the rest of America. He scored 32 runs in the second innings of this loss. cite web|url=http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Scorecards/2/2909.html |title=Philadelphians v United States of America in 1884 |accessdate=2007-05-09 |date=2003–2007 |publisher=CricketArchive ] His debut for the Philadelphian side came on 5 September 1892 against the remaining US players.
