=History=

The Temple House, as it is now called, was originally constructed as a two-story single family residence in 1933 with the first stone laid by world renowned architect L. Murray Dixon [ [http://www.thetemplehouse.com/history/history.html The Temple Miami ] ] . Mr. Dixon is widely recognized as the principal architectural contributor to the most spectacular Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach, including but not limited to: The Victor Hotel (1937), The Raleigh Hotel (1940), The Marlin (1939), The Tides Hotel (1936), The Senator (1939) and the Ritz Plaza Hotel (1940). His work is best known and recognized for its striking use of circles and banding. In 1942 The Temple House was expanded and re-zoned for The Joseph-Jacob Congregation, which was subsequently renamed Temple Emanuel and eventually moved to its new location in 1965. At that point, through the efforts of also famous architect Lester Avery, the Temple House expanded its facility to convert|16350|ft|m|sing=on to accommodate the 1,000 member orthodox members under the name Knesseth Israel. In early 2003, The Temple House was purchased by the present owner, Daniel Davidson, to begin the renovation of the largest single family residence in South Beach. =Residence=In March 2003, Davidson bought the property and began an extensive renovation in which all architectural features of the building were painstakingly preserved while still allowing the installation of completely new electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning systems (50 tons). Designed by Daniel Davidson to create a sensual, peaceful and tranquil environment, The Temple House is a modern work of simplicity, contemporary elegance and urban chic. The Temple House is widely regarded by the celebrities as a modern Versace Mansion (Casa Casuarina).
