- Intersalt study
The Intersalt study was a landmark observational study that showed a strong association between dietary salt and risk of
cardiovascular disease . [cite journal | author=Intersalt Cooperative Research Group | title=Intersalt: an international study of electrolyte excretion and blood pressure. Results for 24 hour urinary sodium and potassium excretion | journal=Br Med J | year=1988 | volume=297 | issue=6644 | pages=319–28 | pmid=3416162 ] The results were disputed by theSalt Institute (the salt producers' trade organisation), who demanded that the results be handed over for re-analysis.
