The University of the Peloponnese ( _el. Πανεπιστήμιο Πελοποννήσου) is a university located in the Peloponnese, Greece. It was founded in 2002 and comprises five schools in Tripoli, Corinth, Kalamata, Nafplio, and Sparta. The center of the univercity is in Tripoli.
Kalamata
The history and philosophy departments are located in Kalamata, where classes are held in a converted military barracks.
There are also free Greek classes in Kalamata for Messenians living abroad.
Tripoli
In Tripolis there are located the Faculty of Science & Technology as well as the Faculty of Administration and Economic Sciences.
The Faculty for Science and Technology comprise the following departments:
a) Telecommunications Science and Technology Department (operational from the academic year 2002/2003)
b) Computer Science and Technology Department (operational from the academic year 2002/2003)
Whereas the Faculty of Administration and Economic Sciences comprise the following departments:
a) Economic Sciences Department (operational from the academic year 2003/2004)
Greek Classes for Greeks Abroad
The University also offers summer Greek classes in the Kalamata campus. This program is directed at Greeks living abroad, especially in the United States, Canada, Australia and the UK. For people of Greek descent who have at least one grandparent from the Messenia province, these classes are free as are room and food during the one month program. The World Council of Messenians Abroad provides the funding for this scholarship program.
