It stars Regina Bianchi, Aldo Giuffrè, Lea Massari, Jean Sorel, Franco Sportelli, Charles Belmont, Gian Maria Volonté and Frank Wolff.

The movie won the Nastro d'Argento Best Director, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Writing Original Screenplay, and a BAFTA Award for Best Film.

Plot

During World War II, the people of Naples are forces to work in slave camps by the occupying Germans. They grow tired of the oppression and revolt against the invaders, armed with any weapon they can find. The revolt lasts four days, and they eventually drive the Germans from their city.
