*August 24 - The Tampa crisis begins when theMV Tampa tries to help a boatload of refugees, mainly fromAfghanistan . The crisis is resolved whenNew Zealand aggress to take some of the refugees and countries such asNauru andPapua New Guinea agree to take the rest. This was known as thePacific Solution .
