"Hurricane" is a single by Black Thought, Common, Dice Raw, Flo Brown, Jazzyfatnastees and Mos Def from the 1999 film "The Hurricane". Released by MCA Records in 1999, the song features production by The Roots and vocals from various Roots affiliates. Each verse in the track deals with the life of boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. The song takes its lyrical concept from a Bob Dylan song of the same name. It is considered to be a conscious hip hop song as are most songs by Native Tongues Posse and Soulquarians members such as Mos Def and Common.
