Pollard was the ninth head football coach for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and he held that position for the 1901 season. His overall coaching record at Lehigh was 1 wins, 11 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 29th at Lehigh in terms of total wins and 29th at Lehigh in terms of winning percentage. After a three-season break, Pollard was named the head football coach at Alabama from 1906 until the end of the 1909 season. He found more success at Alabama, where his teams accumulated a record of 21 wins, 4 losses, and 5 ties.ama, and 1-11 at Lehigh in 1901. His overall record stands at 22-15-5.

His success at Alabama was not without failures. The first season Pollard coached the Crimson Tide, they achieved a record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
