Atrophic factor

An atrophic factor is a force that causes a cell to die. Only natural forcing on the cell are considered to be atrophic factors. There are generally considered to be two types of atrophic factors.

#A decrease in fuel supply, i.e. the cell starves.
#The death of mitochondria which impairs the cells ability to take in energy.
