Louis Applebaum, C.C. (
April 3 ,1918 -April 19 ,2000 ) was a Canadiancomposer , administrator, and conductor.He was born in
Toronto, Ontario . He composed music for numerous films. He was nominated for anacademy award for his score of the 1945 film,The Story of G.I. Joe . He was Executive Director of theOntario Arts Council and Vice-President of theCanadian League of Composers . He was the first music director of theStratford Festival . His fanfares have opened every performance since the Festival started in 1953.In 1976 he was made an Officer of the
Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 1995.References
