September 8 1981 in San Diego,California ) is an Americansoccer player who currently plays for theCarolina RailHawks of theUSL First Division in theUnited States . Sanfilippo currently serves as the team captain.Sanfilippo joined the RailHawks after a spectacular season with
Rochester Raging Rhinos which saw him named to the 2006USL-1 All-Star team. The 2003 graduate ofSan Jose State University was drafted in the2003 MLS SuperDraft by his hometown club. He transferred toSyracuse Salty Dogs in 2004 where he played alongside his new head coach before making the transfer along withScott Schweitzer to Rochester in 2005. When Schweitzer retired from play at the beginning of the 2006 season, it was Sanfilippo that Rhinos' coachLaurie Calloway called upon to be a steadying force in the Rhinos defense and mentor a young Rhinos backline, who was devastated from the previous years' retirements, transfers, and injuries. Frank was equal to the task and helped lead the Rhinos all the way to the 2006 USL Championship match where they fell just short of winning their 4th USL title.External links
