Ferndorf is a municipality in the district of Villach-Land in the Austrian state of Carinthia. It is situated on a small range of the Nock Mountains between the Drava Valley and the Millstätter See. The commune consists of the Katastralgemeinden "Ferndorf" and "Gschriet" and is made up of several hamlets.

Neighboring municipalities

Ferndorf was first mentioned as "Vedendorf" in a 1391 deed. From 1865 to 1906 it was part of the Paternion market town. Original an agraric area the population today largely depends on the magnesite works in nearby Radenthein.
