Dr. Andrew Rochford (born 25 July 1980 in Sydney, Australia) is both a doctor and television personality who is best known for his part in presenting the Australian health show "What's Good For You". Biography

Early life

Andrew Rochford was born in Sydney, Australia, and grew up on the Northern Beaches.

He undertook his secondary school at Saint Augustine's college before going to university and completing an undergraduate degree in medical science at Sydney University, followed by a post-graduate degree in medicine, which he finalised in 2004, passing with honors.

He moved to Brisbane, Australia for a brief period, where he was a surgical trainee at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He currently resides in Sydney, Australia, where he is an emergency registrar at the Royal North Shore Hospital in St Leonards.

Contesting "The Block"

In 2005 he and Jamie Nicholson, his girlfriend at that time entered a competition to be a part of the Australian television show called "The Block". Their application was successful in so far that were elected to be a reserve in the case of a departure by any other couple.

Two other contestants were forced to depart after one of the couple was found to have spent six months in jail during 2002 after conviction for a drug-related offence.

Andrew Rochford and his partner then went on to win the show which included as prize money AUD$100,000 plus any extra money that could be won after the auction of the property they had renovated. Following that auction, the apartment they renovated sold for $868,000 which meant that the couple pocketed the extra $78,000 above the reserve price.cite web | url = http://theblock.ninemsn.com.au/theblock/unit2/episode26.asp | title = Jamie and Andrew| publisher = NineMSN| accessdate = 2007-04-26 ]

Joining the "What's Good For You team"

Andrew's profile was so increased by his time on "The Block" that shortly after his win, he was offered a position with the "What's Good For You" team, and joined that television program in 2006. The program is hosted by Sigrid Thornton.

For example he has himself stung by a jellyfish to see what method best relieved the pain; eaten fifteen kilograms of carrots to see if that consumption would improve his eyesight.

However, in addition to his role as a guinea pig he also has undertakes more serious roles. For example he has reported on the concentration of pathogens in various meats, and related those facts to a better understanding of how to cook various meats.
