RPM (Brazilian band)

RPM ("Revoluções Por Minuto", "revolutions per minute" in Portuguese), was a Brazilian rock band. It was formed by singer/bassist Paulo Ricardo, keyboardist Luiz Schiavon, guitarist Fernando Deluqui and drummer Paulo Antônio "P.A." Pagni.

They played soft techno-pop with strong, paradoxical, influences of progressive rock and European synth-pop. Their lyrics were pessimistic, ironic and full of literary (Arthur Rimbaud, Surrealism and books like Christiane F.) and political references, with a strong leftist tone.

The band was very successful in the early 1980s; the live album Rádio Pirata ao vivo was the best-selling ever record in Brazil at the time, with more than 2.2 million copies sold [cite book |last=Dapieve |first=Arthur |authorlink= |coauthors= |editor= |others= |title=BRock: o rock brasileiro dos anos 80 |origdate= |origyear=1996 |origmonth= |url= |format= |accessdate= |accessyear= |accessmonth= |edition=3rd ed. |series= |date= |year=2000 |month= |publisher=Editora 34 |location=Rio de Janeiro |language=Portuguese |isbn=85-7326-008-4 |oclc= |doi= |id= |pages= |chapter= |chapterurl= |quote= ] [ [http://www.allbrazilianmusic.com/en/Styles/Styles.asp?Status=MATERIA&Nu_Materia=891 AllBrazilianMusic: the music from Brazil ] ] .
