Javier Baraja Vegas, Baraja (born August 24 1980 in Valladolid, Castile and León), is a Spanish footballer who currently plays for Real Valladolid of the Spanish first division, usually as a defender. His older brother Rubén is a midfielder for Valencia CF.

Baraja's first match in "La Liga" was on August 26, 2001 at Deportivo de La Coruña, in a 4-0 loss.

After stints in the second division, he returned to Real Valladolid in 2005, playing 28 matches in the season they achieved promotion to the top flight.
