Málaga Club de Fútbol B is a Spanish football team based in Málaga, Andalusia. They will play the 2008/09 season in the Tercera División - Group 9. They are the reserve team of Málaga CF.

Unlike in England, reserve teams in the Spain play in the same football pyramid as their senior team rather than a separate league. However reserve teams cannot play in the same division as their senior team. Therefore the team is ineligible for promotion to "La Liga", the division in which Málaga CF currently playS. Reserve teams are also no longer permitted to enter the Spanish Cup.

History

The team was originally formed in 1990 as "Sociedad Deportiva Malacitana", the reserve team of "Club Atlético Malagueño". When the latter club became Málaga CF in 1994, they became "Málaga CF B"' in the following year.

They followed their senior team up the divisions and, at the end of 2002-03 they were promoted to the "Segunda División", where they would last three seasons.
