Sanford Jackson (born in Port Arthur, now
Thunder Bay, Ontario ) was a prominentCanadian biochemist.Jackson graduated from the
University of Toronto in chemical engineering and pathological chemistry. He was research biochemist and biochemist-in-chief at the TorontoHospital for Sick Children 1937-1974.Jackson was founding member Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists and the Ontario Society of Clinical Chemists. He invented the
bilirubinometer which measures the amount ofbilirubin in blood.Jackson died in Toronto
4 September 2000 age 91.Sanford's uncle,
Clarence Hugh Jackson , was mayor ofFort William, Ontario in 1904.External links
