lake s lying betweenLake Rotorua andLake Tarawera , in theBay of Plenty region ofNew Zealand 'sNorth Island . The others areLake Rotokakahi (Green Lake),Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake), andLake Okataina . All lie within theOkataina caldera , along its western edge.Renowned for its natural beauty, this lake has an adjacent settlement of approximately 600 people. The lake is easily accessible from the well-known tourist hotspot of Rotorua as the lake is less than 15 minutes drive from the city centre.
