cities =Lake Rotokakahi or Green Lake, is one of four small lakes lying between
Lake Rotorua andLake Tarawera in theBay of Plenty region ofNew Zealand 'sNorth Island . The others areLake Tikitapu (Blue Lake),Lake Okareka , andLake Okataina . All lie within theOkataina caldera , along its western edge.Named by the
Māori for its abundance of shellfish, it flows toLake Tarawera via theTe Wairoa waterfalls. It's emerald green from the air due to its shallow, sandy bottom. The lake is 1302 feet above sea level and 69 feet below the level of the neighbouringLake Tikitapu . It remains largely undisturbed as it is considered to betapu by theMāori .Rotokakahi remains under the authority of Te Arawa iwi, Tuhourangi.
