Brett Aspinall was a character in the TV series "Waterloo Road", who is portrayed by Tom Payne.

how introduction

Brett joined the television showWaterloo Road in 2006 to commence his A-Level studies. His father Roger Aspinall was a sponsor governor who was planning to fund a new, self titled academy at Waterloo Road. Brett and Roger did not get on.

In Brett's first appearance, he made an enemy of Jack Rimmer. This friction was long running and the dislike between the two grew when Jack discovered Brett was a former boyfriend of Davina Shackleton, Jack's girlfriend - although the relationship had taken place before either of them arrived at Waterloo Road.

Relationship with Mika

Brett showed interest in Mika Grainger early on in Series 2, but they did not begin a relationship for several weeks. Brett invited Mika round to help with with her French, but Mika's then best friend Leigh-Ann Galloway invited herself along. Brett had a bar in his bedroom, and after they had all had too much alcohol, Leigh-Ann took a picture of Mika with no top on. Mika was horrified and after a hate campaign against Mika, Leigh-Ann was discovered as a liar and a bully and excluded from the school. She later revealed she was jealous because Brett preferred Mika to her, possibly because Mika 'talked nice'.

In the middle of Series 2, Mika and Brett began a relationship. Mika became frustrated as Brett constantly used money to get what he wanted, and he had to have fancy belongings and flash his cash. However, Brett proved her wrong as he invited her round for a meal, for her to discover it was just beans on toast!!

In the first episode of Series 3, it is revealed that Izzie Redpath, Mika's mum, had died after being stabbed by Jed Seddon at the end of Series 2. This arguably brought Mika and Brett closer together, but it also made Mika a stronger person.

In Series 3, there is visible chemistry between Brett and Mika's married younger sister, Chlo Charles. They sleep together on two or more occasions, before they after discovered in bed by Chlo's husband Donte Charles. Brett feels terrible after Donte finds out, so ends the relationship with Mika before she finds out. However, she is furious when she does find out that he slept with Chlo, and refuses to speak to him for several weeks. When she does, she is cold and hostile.

However, towards the end of Series 3, Mika slowly warms to Brett after forgiving her sister. Brett uses her passion as an eco-warrior to get back with her, faking interest so they can spend more time together. It is implied several times that they both want to get back together, but it is not seen in Series 3 if they do rekindle their romance.

Personality and Background

Brett is arguably posh, as his father is a millionaire. Brett speaks with a 'posh' accent, and lives in his father's mansion with him. It is revealed at the beginning of Series 2 that Brett's mother died when he was 15, and that a week after her death he found Roger in bed with another woman. This is probably where his hatred from his father stems from.

Brett speaks fluent French, and becomes Steph Haydock's favourite pupil, until it is revealed that Brett had an affair with Davina.

Brett completed his A-Level studies in Series 3 and it has since been reported that he will not be appearing in Series 4.
