Mika Grainger is a character in the TV series "Waterloo Road", and is played by Lauren Drummond.

Feud with Leigh-Ann Galloway

Mika has had problems with Leigh-Ann Galloway. They were best friends until Leigh-Ann took a photo of Mika with her top off at Brett's house when they had too much alcohol. Leigh-Ann started a hate website and threatened to put the photo on it.

Mika told Steph Haydock what had happened and Steph attempted to solve the problem without involving other members of staff. However, Leigh-Ann accused Mika of bullying her, and falsely told Kim Campbell that Mika had encouraged Brett and Leigh-Ann to take part in a threesome.

Mika denied the allegations, but after an angry outburst at Leigh-Ann, she was sent to the 'cooler', where her mother Izzie Redpath found her and despite Mika's insistence, Izzie did not believe that Leigh-Ann was lying. After the argument, Mika decided to leave school and returned home. Leigh-Ann turned up at Mika's house, and reveals the reason for the hate site is that she is jealous of the fact that Brett Aspinall liked Mika more. Leigh-Ann also threatened Mika, telling her if she didn't leave school permanently and leave brett alone, Leigh-Ann would put the photo of Mika on the website.

After this argument, Mika takes some pills and attempts to commit suicide. However, she is found in time by Izzie and her boyfriend Tom Clarkson

Afterwards, Mika showed Izzie the website and there was a picture of her and Leigh-Ann together when they were friends. Viewers then saw Jack Rimmer excluding Leigh-Ann, after berating her for her actions.

Izzie's Death

In the last episode of series 2, Mika's mum Izzie was stabbed by Jed Seddon and at the start of the next series it was revealed that she had died. Tom Clarkson became the sole carer for the girls.

Brett and Chlo's affair

Having grieved for her mother, Mika tried to push on with her life and became an arguably stronger person. However, this strength was tested when her brother-in-law discovered that his wife Chlo and Mika's boyfriend Brett has slept together on more than one occasion. Mika was unaware of this betrayal until a furious Donte revealed the news in a busy corridor of the school, after smashing up cars in the car park. Mika reacted by slapping Chlo, and telling her she never wanted to see her again.

Chlo then decided to run away, and after looking for accommodation in an internet cafe, was introduced to a young girl named Lucy. Lucy offered her a room at her flat, rent free until she found work, and Chlo accepted. However, Chlo was found weeks later by police after Lucy and her boyfriend Shaun had attempted to make her prostitute herself to pay the rent.

Upon Chlo's return, Mika forgave her sister but did not forgive Brett. However, since then, Mika has become closer to Brett and even showed signs of wanting to get back together with Brett.

Pregnancy scare

A few weeks after the exposure of the affair, Mika realised she may be pregnant. She was reluctant to tell Brett, as she had not forgiven him by this point. However, Brett noticed that there is something wrong, and after she snaps at Karla Bentham, he confronted her. She tried to avoid talking to him about it, but he pointed out that they cannot solve anything until she knew if she was pregnant. Mika was adamant that she did not want to keep his baby if she was pregnant. Later, they went to town and bought a pregnancy test, which Mika carried out in the toilets. Mika was delighted to find the test was negative but as she revealed the news to Brett, he appeared disappointed. When she asked why, he revealed part of him wanted her to be pregnant to bring them together.

Mika, the Eco-Warrior

Recently, Mika was involved in green issues, much to the annoyance of Eddie Lawson, Rachel Mason and Tom. After a demonstration in the school grounds to protect some old oak trees, numerous teachers attempt to bargain with her. However, the protest gets out of hand and the protest leader, Leon, orders windows to be smashed. Mika is worried that it is going too far but does not voice her opinions. The protest ends abruptly after Tom climbs a ladder up the tree to order Mika to come down, and she kicks the ladder lightly to scare him off. However, he falls and she quickly comes down to make sure he is OK.

2007/08 was the final year of Mika's A-Level studies, but it has not been confirmed whether the character will appear in series 4.
