Shekhar and others. The plot is about a son's revenge against his father. It is a remake of the 1978 Hindi film Trishul which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar.

Plot synopsis
Sathyaraj is a rich young man, who makes a young female quarryworker (Sharada) fall in love with him, then sleeps with her and deserts her. The woman later realizes that she had been had, but its too late; she's pregnant. She gives birth to a young boy, who grows up with her in the quarry. She eventually dies when the boy is around 9 years old. Before dying, she tells the boy about his father and tells him to go find him. The boy later grows up to be a young man (Rajnikanth), who later comes to Madras, finds his father and plans his revenge against him.
Music
The most memorable song of this movie was the track Ennama Kannu. The song was later remixed in the film Thiruvilayadal Arambam, which starred Rajnikanth's son-in-law Dhanush, Shriya Saran & Prakash Raj. The film however has a different story.
