footnote= [http://www.census.gov/population/cencounts/ms190090.txt MS Counties 1900-1990] As of thecensus GR|2 of 2000, there were 49,644 people, 18,756 households, and 13,222 families residing in the county. Thepopulation density was 85 people per square mile (33/km²). There were 20,789 housing units at an average density of 35 per square mile (14/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 54.97% White, 43.19% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.62% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 0.66% from two or more races. 1.04% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.2005 census estimates based on the American Community Survey suggested that non-Hispanic whites were 51.5% of Warren County's population. This meant that Warren County was the only county in Mississippi along the Mississippi River besides Deseoto County where whites formed a majority of the population. African-Americans now were 46.0% of the county's population. People reporting two or more races seemed to have declined to 0.6%, however due to new counting procedures where people who marked some-other race and white were counted as just white this probably does not indicate an actual decline in people being willing to identify themselves as being of multiple racial origins. The Latino population was now 1.2% of the total for the county. [ [http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/28/28149.html Warren County QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau ] ]
