Ashtian ( _fa. آشتیان) is an ancient city located in the northeast of Markazi province of
Iran .The town of Ashtian itself (34° 32' north latitude and 50° east longitude) had a population of ca. 6,000 in 1951. The town lies in a fertile agricultural district, watered by surface streams and qanats. The region is a famous one for carpet-weaving. Among its historical monuments a re a fortress and a
