The Hundred Days War was a war fought between the
Lebanese Forces , under the command of theKataeb Party 's PresidentBashir Gemayel , andSyria in1978 .The year 1978 was marked by a series of bloody incidents between the Syrians and the Lebanese Forces and at one point Bashir Gemayel was arrested at a Syrian Army check point in
Achrafieh .February 7 ,1978 saw a clash take place between the Lebanese Army and the Syrian Army in Fayadieh. The Syrians then surrounded the Fayadieh and heavily bombarded the barracks, fighting spread to nearby districts and the Tigers Militia where drawn into the action against the Syrians. That afternoon Syrian shelled Achrafieh and attack the Tigers HQ. The fight spread to all east ofBeirut andMount Lebanon . Syrians took high buildings like Burj Rizk Achrafieh and Burj El Murr using snipers and heavy weapons at civilians. The fights stayed for 90 days.The siege of East Beirut ended after a settlement agreed upon in a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the
Arab states contributing in theArab Deterrent Force held in Beit ed-Dine. The Syrian troops ended it's siege of Achrafieh and Saudi and Sudanese troops replaced it. The settlement was welcomed by theLebanese Front and marked the end of the clashes.The
Kataeb Military Council received military supplies fromIsrael .
